Kenya's arid and semi-arid lands (ASAL) hold some of the country's most fragile ecosystems, home to unique biodiversity, critical wildlife corridors and communities whose livelihoods depend on dryland natural resources.
Conservation, biodiversity and wildlife in ASAL Kenya
Our work focuses on strengthening community-driven conservation systems, improving biodiversity protection and supporting wildlife-adjacent livelihoods through governance, training and sustainable resource management. We support community conservancies, county governments, cooperatives and CBOs to design and implement conservation programmes that are ecologically sound, socially inclusive and aligned with national and global frameworks.
Climate change solutions for dryland communities
ASAL regions face extreme climate pressures such as drought, water scarcity, land degradation and shifting livelihood systems. We help institutions integrate climate-smart practices, carbon credit pathways and nature-based solutions into their programmes.

Gender, SRHR and GESI in conservation
Sustainable conservation and climate resilience cannot succeed without gender equality, youth inclusion and strong sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) systems. We integrate Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) principles into biodiversity, conservation, climate and natural resource programmes so that women, youth and marginalised groups participate fully and benefit equitably.

Wanjiru Marianjugu is a governance and field systems specialist with over a decade of experience designing, managing and strengthening biodiversity, conservation, climate resilience, gender equality and SRHR programmes across Kenya's arid and semi-arid lands (ASAL). She is based in Nanyuki.

Nature-based Solutions & Biodiversity Value Chain Specialist
Galgallo Roba Guyo is an environmental conservationist, Indigenous Peoples researcher and development consultant with over seven years of experience in Nature-based Solutions, biodiversity conservation, ecosystem restoration and sustainable livelihoods across Northern Kenya. He is the Founder and Director of Marsabit Botanical Garden, an Indigenous-led conservation and learning initiative.
